Like a lighthouse, this experience guided you through the darkness. Congratulations to you! You have achieved your dream. After all, you worked hard all the time.
It’s hard to believe that it’s a letter from 2037 as you read. Life has become quite different from the past. First, with the rapid development of technology, people who live in China have a happier and easier life. Second, traditional cars aren’t used now because of the air pollution. Instead, new energy(能源)cars have been widely used. Also, all teenagers can enter college or university to improve themselves for free. Passage 2
It seems that food deliverymen are always in a rush. They wear blue, red or yellow helmets(头盔)and many of them don’t follow traffic rules. They drive on the wrong side of the road and run red lights. They use mobile phones while driving.
However not everything goes well with food deliverymen. In the first half of last year, food deliverymen had 76 traffic accidents in Shanghai. That means every two and a half days, a food deliveryman will die or get hurt on the road.
What makes deliverymen take such risks The strict rules of the food delivery service companies and the anxious customers(焦虑的顾客)may be the answer. Many companies will fine(罚款)a deliveryman up to 2,000 yuan if he fails to deliver an order on time, reported by China Daily. Fines also go to those who get bad reviews(评价)from customers.
To solve the problem, food delivery service companies need to improve their incentive systems(激励制度), noted CRI Online. Some cities are also taking action. Shanghai has asked companies to train their deliverymen on traffic rules and safety. Now in Shenzhen, if a deliveryman gets caught breaking traffic rules more than twice, then he will be banned(禁止)from driving food service delivery vehicles(车辆)for a whole year.
35. The first paragraph mainly tells us that many food deliverymen ________.

A. It’s important for food deliverymen to deliver food on time.
B. It’s necessary for food deliverymen to follow the traffic rules.
C. It’s dangerous for food deliverymen to get caught more than twice.
D. It’s impossible for food deliverymen to drive for a whole year.
Passage 3
Each of us has dreams and goals for our future. What makes us study and made progress each day is closely connected with our personal dream and goal.
But why do you have dreams and goals, you still end up with nothing What separates(区分)successful people from dreamers is their persistent(锲而不舍的)action. When you learn your lessons at school, you must work hard and not give up. You will often find some of your lessons very hard. Try and keep trying. And you’ll be sure to successfully deal with any difficulty you meet with. If we have a hard lesson today, let us try our best to learn it well and then we shall be prepared for a harder one tomorrow.
This is the famous formula(公式)for success:
Dream→Believe→Achieve
Most people have what they want(Dream)and think they can realize their dreams(Believe). And then they do nothing. They just imagine their dreams can come true. When they get tired of waiting and lose a lot, they say angrily how terrible their life is.
I personally believe that if you really want to achieve your dreams and goals in life, you have to add one thing to your success formula:
Dream→Believe→Act→Achieve
For me, act is the most important thing for success and that’s to Take Persistent Action(Act). If you say“I can’t do it” and give up, you can never do anything valuable(有价值的). However, “I’ll try” creates wonders. Let’s remember that there will be obstacles in our life. We must face them bravely and solve them. Success is not something that falls from the sky. Most successful people made their dreams come true because of their persistent action.
Please remember: Action is the bridge that connects our dreams and goals to reality.
39. What do you need to do when you find your lessons very hard
A. To ask other people for help. B. To try my best to learn them well.
C. To keep trying another one. D. To get ready for a harder one.
40. Which does the writer add to the famous formula
A. Act. B. Achieve. C. Connect. D. Create.
41. What does the underlined word “obstacles” probably mean in the passage
A. Dangers. B. Mistakes. C. Choices. D. Problems.
42. Which of the following can be the best title for the text
A. Keeping on Doing Something Valuable
B Studying Hard and Making Great Progress
C. Realizing Dreams with Persistent Action
D. Separating Successful People from Dreamers
Passage 4
Two months ago, every app on my phone wanted me to know “Double 11” was coming. I asked a friend if it was a special holiday.
She laughed and said it’s a shopping holiday. “It’s just like Black Friday,” she explained. After getting the answer, I actually hoped she was wrong.
As we know, Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving in the United States. For me, Thanksgiving is the best US holiday. It’s a holiday that does not need us to take part in any rush for goods. Yes, we should buy turkeys, the traditional food on this special day. And we also invite relatives and friends to share. Usually each person cooks a different dish and brings it to the big meal. It’s a day to be thankful not for turkeys, but to the people we care about.
Black Friday is the next day. Starting around 4 a. m., thousands of people crowd outside of stores and malls. When the doors open, they rush into the stores. What are they doing
On Black Friday, many things are on sale. But if you don’t pay for them quickly, they will be sold out soon.
As a result, it’s “normal” for people to “fight” with each other for cheap TVs and computers—even toilet paper! In less than 24 hours, many people forget the peace of Thanksgiving. Instead, they become crazy consumers(消费者).
Preparing for “Double 11”, I opened Taobao to look for winter clothes in advance. Two hours later, I found myself became a crazy consumer too. Although I didn’t fight in the crowded stores, I got lost among all kinds of goods and kept buying things I didn’t really need. Maybe my friend is right in some way, “Double 11” is like Black Friday.
43. How did the writer know”Double 11”
A. One of her friends told her. B. The apps on her phone “told” her.
C. By searching the Internet. D. By shopping with her friend.
44. What do people usually do on Black Friday in the United States
A. They share delicious foods with their relatives and friends, such as turkeys.
B. They always rush into the stores to buy TVs, computers and even toilet paper.
C. They crowd outside of stores and malls at around 4 p. m. to buy cheap things.
D. They are so crazy that they even”fight” with each other for cheap goods.
45. What does the underlined phrase “in advance” mean in Chinese
A. 提前 B. 及时 C. 推迟 D. 准时
46. Why does the writer think that “Double 11” is like Black Friday at the end of passage
A. Everything is much cheaper than usual on a shopping holiday.
B. People enjoy buying things on their phones instead of going to the stores.
C. She got lost among kinds of goods and ended up buying something useless.
D. It’s much more convenient for people to go shopping on the two holidays.

In 1998, Wang Chengbang retired(退休)from the army. Instead of enjoying a relaxing life, he volunteered to save the soil from desertification(沙漠化)by planting trees in Korla(库尔勒), Xinjiang.
It is not an easy job. The high temperature in Korla makes it difficult for anyone to work day after day in the sunshine. Besides, lacking of water is a big problem. Actually, Wang Chengbang’s work in the first few years failed as very few trees survived(存活).
But Wang Chengbang would not give up. “After trying many different ways, I have learned how to grow young trees in a better way,” said Wang Chengbang. He also worked out new ways to save water. With his hard work, more and more trees have survived. So far, he has planted more than 1.5 million trees. Those green trees prevent desertification, make the air cleaner and protect people from the hot sun. Now, Korla is a model city in environmental protection.
Wang Chengbang is also successful in fighting cancer(癌症). In 2005, he had cancer and was told that he had only six months to live. However, he continued taking care of his trees instead of lying on the hospital bed. “Working is the best medicine. Planting trees helps to fight cancer,” he often jokes.

My teacher encouraged me to read it over and over again after class and told me to believe in myself. The next day, I made it and I was so proud of myself.
