I was once a Chinese TV star. Actually, I'm neither Chinese nor a star, but for two seasons, I was the French voice of one of the major characters in a famous Chinese soap opera.
China has put a lot of effort into sharing its culture with the world. Chinese movies and TV shows have been translated into various languages. As a result, dubbing (配音) jobs in China have increased greatly over the years.
I landed my first dubbing job without having any previous experience, something that would be impossible in France. As I entered the tiny recording studio, I pretended to know how to dub, feeling more than ever like a fraud. I didn’t speak Chinese, so how could I know when a sentence ended I managed to control my shaking hands, and tried my best to match the French text with the Chinese lips. Finally, they asked me to try again, with more emotion this time. And so I did. To my surprise, I secured my first role.
Once I was in the database, I got offered roles every now and then. I really started enjoying the Chinese soap operas. As the shows helped me to better understand the Chinese family and the relationships between young people in China, I realized I was able to have deeper conversations with my Chinese friends.
And so I discovered that dubbing is not a job that stays in the office; it becomes part of you. Not only because of what other people think, but because of what you share with the character. When my character once believed her mother had killed herself, I couldn’t help crying. I left the studio and immediately called my mom, and I believe that was the nicest call I ever made to her. This might sound silly, I know, but I will miss “her”. Our one-way relationship was as fictional as she was, but the emotions were real.
4. Why did dubbing jobs in China increase quickly
A. China has various cultures to record.
B. China has set up many cultural companies.
C. China has developed very fast in recent years.
D. China encourages TV shows to spread its culture.
5. What does the underlined word “fraud” in paragraph 3 probably mean
A. Actress. B. Cheater. C. Foreigner. D. Director.
6. What is the fourth paragraph mainly about
A. The author’s Chinese friends help her a lot.
B. Soap operas spread Chinese culture widely.
C. Dubbing in soap operas helps the author a lot.
D. The author likes Chinese soap operas very much.
7. What can be a suitable title for the text
A. My Dubbing Experience in China B. Dubbing, an interesting job
C. Dubbing in China D. My first success
【答案】4. D 5. B 6. C 7. A
【解析】
【分析】本文是一篇记叙文。文章主要讲述了作者作为一个法国人,在中国的配音经历。
【4题详解】
细节理解题。通过文章第二段“China has put a lot of effort into sharing its culture with the world. Chinese movies and TV shows have been translated into various languages. As a result, dubbing jobs in China have increased greatly over the years. (中国一直在努力与世界分享自己的文化。中国的电影和电视节目已经被翻译成各种语言。因此,中国的配音工作在过去几年大幅增加)”可知,配音工作在中国迅速增加是因为中国鼓励电视节目传播文化。故选D项。
【5题详解】
词句猜测题。通过第三段带下划线词的上文“I pretended to know how to dub (我假装知道如何配音)”以及下文“I didn’t speak Chinese, so how could I know when a sentence ended (我不会说中文,所以我怎么知道一句话什么时候结束)”可知,作者起初并不懂得配音,而是在装样子,骗别人他懂,所以带下划线词“fraud”应等同于“cheater”,意为“骗子”。故选B项。
【6题详解】
主旨大意题。通过文章第四段“I really started enjoying the Chinese soap operas. As the shows helped me to better understand the Chinese family and the relationships between young people in China, I realized I was able to have deeper conversations with my Chinese friends. (我真的开始喜欢中国肥皂剧了。随着这些节目帮助我更好地了解中国家庭和中国年轻人之间的关系,我意识到我能够与我的中国朋友有更深入的对话)”可知,第四段主要讲了在肥皂剧中配音对作者帮助很大。故选C项。
【7题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,特别是结合文章第一段“Actually, I'm neither Chinese nor a star, but for two seasons, I was the French voice of one of the major characters in a famous Chinese soap opera. (事实上,我既不是中国人也不是明星,但有两季,我是一部著名的中国肥皂剧中主要人物之一的法国配音)”以及文章第三段“I landed my first dubbing job without having any previous experience, something that would be impossible in France. (我在没有任何经验的情况下获得了第一份配音工作,这在法国是不可能的)”和“To my surprise, I secured my first role. (令我惊讶的是,我获得了我的第一个角色)”可知,本文主要讲述了作者作为一个法国人,在中国的配音经历。A项“我在中国的配音经历”符合文意,最适合作为文章标题。故选A项。
C
What makes a word real Who has the power to make those kinds of official decisions about words Those are the questions many people have in mind. When most people say a word isn’t real, what they mean is that it doesn’t appear in a dictionary. That, of course, raises some other questions, including, who writes dictionaries
Now, dictionaries are good resources, but they are changeable. If you ask dictionary editors, what they’ll tell you is that they’re just trying to keep up with people as people change the language. They’re watching what people say and what people write and trying to figure out what’s going to stick and what’s not going to stick.
Every January, dictionary editors go to the American Dialect Society Meeting every year, where among other things, they decide on the word of the year. There are about 200 or 300 people who come. Some of them are the best known linguists(语言学家) in the United States. In the past, some of the winners have been “staycation” to describe a vacation spent at home and “tweet” to describe a post made on the social networking service Twitter.
So how does a word get into a dictionary It gets in because people use it and people keep using it, and dictionary editors are paying attention to people. If a community of speakers is using a word and knows what it means, it’s real. That word might be informal and that word might be a word that you think is illogical(不合逻辑的) or unnecessary, but as long as people are using the word, it is real. I hope that what you can do is to find language change not annoying but fun and interesting, just the way dictionary editors do. I hope you can enjoy being part of the creativity that is continually remaking our language and keeping it alive.
8. Why do dictionaries change over time
A. Speakers keep changing language.
B. Linguists often make up new words.
C. Dictionary editors change every year.
D. Words in the dictionary are out of date.
9. Who has the right to decide the word of the year
A New words inventors. B. American Officials.
C. Dictionary editors. D. Famous linguists.
10. What does the underlined word “staycation” mean in paragraph 3
A. Taking a holiday while working. B. Working online at home.
C. Staying at home for the moment. D. Going on a vacation at home.
11. What is the author’s attitude towards language changing
A. Worried. B. Positive. C. Uninterested. D. Confused.
【答案】8. A 9. C 10. D 11. B
【解析】
【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章介绍了语言会随着人们的使用而变化,进而字典也会发生变化,并介绍了新词是如何进入字典的。
【8题详解】
推理判断题。根据第二段中“Now, dictionaries are good resources, but they are changeable. If you ask dictionary editors, what they’ll tell you is that they’re just trying to keep up with people as people change the language.”(现在,字典是很好的资源,但它们是可变的。如果你问字典编辑,他们会告诉你,他们只是在努力跟上人们改变语言的步伐。)故可推知,字典的变化是根据人们语言一直发生的变化而变化。故选A项。
【9题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段中“Every January, dictionary editors go to the American Dialect Society Meeting every year, where among other things, they decide on the word of the year.”(每年一月,词典编辑们都会参加美国方言协会会议,在那里,他们会决定年度词汇。)可知,每年的一月,字典编纂者会去美国方言协会参加年度会议,他们会决定年度词汇。故选C项。
【10题详解】
词义猜测题。根据划线单词该句中的“…to describe a vacation spent at home”(用来形容在家度过的假期)故可猜测,staycation为表示“在家度假”的意思。结合选项D项Going on a vacation at home“在家里度假”意思一致。故选D项。
【11题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段中“I hope that what you can do is to find language change not annoying but fun and interesting, just the way dictionary editors do.”(我希望你能做是发现语言的变化不是烦人的,而是有趣的,就像字典编辑所做的那样。)可知,作者希望你能够意识到:语言变化不是令人烦恼的,而是有趣的,所以作者对于语言变化的态度是积极的。故选B项。

Japanese officials say they are pleased with the quality of the asteroid (小行星) material collected by a spacecraft and returned to Earth.
Last week, officials from Japan described the samples (样品), which were collected from the Ryugu asteroid in July 2019. Ryugu sits more than 300 million kilometers from Earth. Japan’s unpiloted Hayabusa2 spacecraft removed the material after making a hole into the asteroid.
The space agency said the July 2019 mission (任务) aimed to collect samples from below the surface of Ryugu. During an earlier operation in February 2019, Hayabusa2 collected material from a different part of the asteroid. The second collection effort resulted in sample pieces as big as 1 centimeter. The black material looked similar to charcoal and was very hard. It did not break apart when picked up or poured into another container.
Earlier this month, space officials described the samples Hayabusa2 removed on its first mission as smaller, sandy pieces. They were collected from the surface of Ryugu. Hayabusa2 was launched in December 2014 and arived near Ryugu in June 2018. The Japanese space mission aims to use the samples to learn more about how our solar system formed.
To get the second set of samples in July, Hayabusa2 used an impactor to knock the asteroid’s surface. The aim was to collect material unaffected by space radiation or other environmental conditions. The size differences suggest different hardness of the bedrock of the asteroid. One possibility is that the place of the second touchdown was a hard bedrock and larger particles broke and entered the container.
Hayabusa2 is now on another mission to a smaller asteroid, called 1998KY26. The Japanese government expects the aircraft to take 11 years to reach that asteroid. Hayabusa2’s new mission aims to study possible ways to prevent large meteorites (陨石) from hitting Earth.
12. What are these asteroid materials used to do
A. Study how the solar system was born. B. Determine the movement of asteroids.
C. Study the environment on the asteroid. D. Uncover when the asteroid was formed.
13. What is the Japanese spacecraft’s next mission
A. To discover new planets. B. To fetch more materials in space.
C. To travel around the solar system. D. To explore ways to protect the earth.
14. What can be learnt about the two samples
A. They were collected in the same place. B. They both were black and hard.
C. They came in different shapes. D. They were of equal weight.
15. Which of the following can be the best title for the text
A. Japan Makes Progress in Studying Solar System
B. Japan Is Pleased with Latest Asteroid Samples
C. The Secret of an Asteroid Comes to Light
D. The Earth Faces Threats from Space
【答案】12. A 13. D 14. C 15. B

二、七选五
Science is a mental toolbox for solving problems. ____16____. And they are powerful and useful in everyday life. Today, we open the toolbox: how scientists think, and how you can borrow their tricks.
Start with an open mind. Being open-minded means that when we are asked a question, scientific thinking requires us to admit that we often simply don’t know the answer.____17____. If the evidence changes and you don’t change your mind, that’s not a good spot to be in.
Accept uncertainty. Scientists always accept that there are things they don’t know, and things they simply cannot know for sure.____18____. It allows you to make better decisions because you’re taking the uncertainty into account. Science says it’s OK to wait for evidence before coming to a conclusion.
____19____. Go and do your research. Pull together all the data—stuff that agrees with your argument and stuff that refutes(驳斥)it. Consider everything, rather than focusing on a single point. Then, for each piece of data, consider the quality of the evidence.
Develop a hypothesis(假设). A hypothesis is a theory about the world—a guess. Ask yourself: Which of my theories best explains the data I have gathered Start with the most likely explanation and test it.____20____.
A. Collect your data
B. Focus on your argument
C. The tools are simpler than you would think
D. Accepting you don’t know things isn’t a sign of weakness
E. There is no point in having a theory that can’t be proven false
F. It also means not holding on to a belief when the evidence changes
G. If you can prove it wrong, move on to the next most likely explanation
【答案】16. C 17. F 18. D 19. A 20. G
【解析】
【分析】本文是说明文。科学是解决问题的精神工具,他们在日常生活中是强大并有用的。文章阐述了科学家思考的方式以及你如何利用科学工具解决问题的方式。
【16题详解】
上文“Science is a mental toolbox for solving problems.( 科学是解决问题的精神工具箱)”说明科学是解决问题的工具,C项中的“tools”与之呼应,C项“这些工具比你想象的要简单”符合语境,引出下文“And they are powerful and useful in everyday life.(他们在日常生活中是强大和有用的。)”说明这些工具可以应用到日常生活中,其实要比想象中简单。故选C。
【17题详解】
上文“Being open-minded means that when we are asked a question, scientific thinking requires us to admit that we often simply don’t know the answer.( 思想开放意味着,当我们被问到一个问题时,科学思维要求我们承认我们往往根本不知道答案。)”说明科学思维要求我们思想开放,接受我们不知道的答案,F项中的“not holding on to a belief”与“admit that we often simply don’t know the answer”一致,F项“它也意味着当证据改变时,不要坚持一种观点”符合语境,与上文是并列关系,且F项中的“the evidence changes”与下文的“the evidence changes”呼应。故选F。
【18题详解】
根据标题“Accept uncertainty.”可知,本段讲述接受不确定性。D项中的“Accepting you don’t know things”符合本段主旨,D项“接受你不知道的事情并不是一种软弱的表现”符合语境,下文“It allows you to make better decisions because you’re taking the uncertainty into account.(它允许你做出更好的决定,因为你已经考虑到了不确定性。)”解释接受不知道的事情并不是软弱的表现的原因。故选D。
【19题详解】
空格处是段落标题。根据下文“Pull together all the data—stuff that agrees with your argument and stuff that refutes(驳斥)it. Consider everything, rather than focusing on a single point. Then, for each piece of data, consider the quality of the evidence.(汇总所有的数据——与你的论点一致的数据和驳斥它的数据。考虑一切,而不是专注于某一点。然后,对于每一块数据,考虑证据的质量。)”可推断,本段讲述收集数据。A项“收集你的数据”为最佳标题。故选A。
【20题详解】
上文“Start with the most likely explanation and test it.( 从最有可能的解释开始,并测试它)”讲述证明假设从最可能的解释开始验证,G项中的“the next most likely explanation”呼应上文,因此G项“如果你可以证明它是错的,那就继续下一个最有可能的解释”符合语境,讲述一个一个检验最有可能的解释。故选G。

【41题详解】
考查固定用法。句意: 强淑萍在忙着做布鞋,以至于在端午节假期里她都没有休息。so...that如此……以至于,本句中引导结果状语从句。故填 that 。
【42题详解】
考查现在完成时/现在完成进行时。句意:这位来自江苏省白浦县的妇女从19岁起就开始制鞋。分析句子可知,这是since引导的时间状语从句,主句为现在完成时/现在完成进行时,从句为一般过去时。故填has been making/has made 。

At present, Internet slang has become more and more popular among the teenagers. According to a survey conducted by our Students’ Union, students’ opinions on this issue are divided as follows.
Most of the students are in favor of Internet slang. About 35% of the students hold the view that Internet slang is vivid and fashionable. Another 33% of them enjoy its humor and intelligence. And a quarter of the students believe it makes chatting on the Internet more convenient. However, there are 7% of the students thinking Internet slang lacks depth of thought and is too casual. In addition, it is hard for most people to understand and accept this kind of slang. If it is used too much in a passage, it may make readers confused, and even cause misunderstanding.

What makes a word real Who has the power to make those kinds of official decisions about words Those are the questions many people have in mind. When most people say a word isn’t real, what they mean is that it doesn’t appear in a dictionary. That, of course, raises some other questions, including, who writes dictionaries
Now dictionaries are good resources, but they are changeable.
9. Who has the right to decide the word of the year
A. New words inventors. B. American Officials.
C. Dictionary editors. D. Famous linguists.
10. What does the underlined word “staycation” mean in paragraph 3
A. Taking a holiday while working. B. Working online at home.
C. Staying at home for the moment. D. Going on a vacation at home.
11. What is the author’s attitude towards language changing
A. Worried. B. Positive. C. Uninterested. D. Confused.
D
