THE 20-20-20 RULE This gives your eyes a break from long screen time. It suggests looking at something at least 20 feet away for 20 seconds after 20 minutes of work on the screen. One day, our psychology(心理学) teacher, Miss Wang, taught stress management principles(压力管理原则) in a classroom filled with students. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they’d be asked the “glass half empty or glass half filled” question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she asked, “How heavy is this glass of water I’m holding ”
Students shouted out answers going from 500g to a couple of kilograms.
She replied, “In my opinion, it doesn’t matter how heavy this glass of water is. It all depends on how long I hold it. If hold it for a minute or two, it’s fairly light. If I hold it for an hour straight, its weight might make my arm ache a little. If I hold it for a day straight, my arm will be uncomfortable, forcing me to drop the glass to the floor. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn’t change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it feels to me.”
As the class nodded their heads in agreement, she continued, “Your stresses and worries in life are very much like this glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and you begin to ache a little. Think about them all day long, and you will feel terrible—unable to do anything else until you drop them.”
The principles tell us on days when we’re stressed out, we should learn to hold the unavoidable and let go. Something cannot be controlled and no more worrying could put all your trouble away. Instead of letting stress get to you, hold it and overcome it.

It has been two months since Richard Watson wore 200 special transmitters (信号发射机) for his cows. They are parts of an artificial intelligence (AI) system named Ida. This AI system can send messages to Watson’s phone when his cows are healthy or when they are not feeling well, and it can tell how many animals are sick to the dairy farmers (奶农) and also help them pick out the sick animals.
AI technologies are changing our daily lives and how people work. With the technology, farmers can get the information they need from their phones instead of going to the farms to check animals every day. So, this AI system can help people spare their time to do other things. Many dairy farmers are interested in Ida. Watson is one of them. On a common morning in March, he pulled out his phone to check his Ida App. It showed that Cows # 97800 and # 97782 were eating less. This might mean that there was something wrong with them.
However, some farmers say, “I can find out the cow that isn’t feeling great just by loo king at her eyes.” Mark Rodgers is a neighbor of Watson’s. He said, “This is what I can do by myself. My experience can help me look after them better. Technology isn’t always useful.”
Ida was developed by the company Connecterra. Yasir Khokhar, the company’s boss, said he came up with the idea while he was living on a farm in Holland. The system can record cow’s behaviors by studying videos of them. It now can track seven cow’s behaviors. The company is still trying to improve this technology to provide much more convenience for farmers.
11.What can the AI system Ida help farmers do

English learners should not think that mistakes or errors(错误) are bad. Instead, they should be seen as signs of progress. But English learners often think too much about mistakes. Poole is a professor. 16
When you are speaking with a native(当地的) English speaker, you can do something to look for mistakes. For example, perhaps a person gives an unusual response(回应) to something you said. 17 You must get to know what kinds of errors you say that could cause communication problems.
18 It’s better to keep a list of common mistakes. When English learners write something, Poole suggests that they should think about the main ideas first. 19 Instead of thinking about grammar, he suggests learners should think about the big picture of what they are writing about. After writing something, go back to look for mistakes by using the writing checklist.
What learners think also matters. Poole said learners can decide how mistakes will play a part in their own learning process. He knows he’s never going to be perfect. 20 “If you make a mistake, the only thing you should worry about is if it causes communication problems.”Poole said.
