A legacy(遗产) is something that is left for others, usually by a person who has died. Terry Fox was a hero who left a legacy that has lasted more than 30 years. This legacy is still going strong.
Terry Fox was born in 1958 and was raised in British Columbia. Terry found out he had bone cancer in one leg when he was 18 years old. He had to have his leg amputated(截肢) above the knee. He read about an amputee who ran the marathon(马拉松) in New York City. He felt sorry for other people in the hospital who had cancer-mostly the children. So he decided to raise money for cancer research
Terry started training to run with his artificial leg. In April 1980, he started his Marathon of Hope. He planned to run across Canada, running a marathon every day. He hoped his run would let people give away money to cancer research. He ran for 143 days, covering 5,373 kilometres. But he had to stop because the cancer had come back. Terry fought hard against the cancer, but he died in June 1981.
Terry's Marath on of Hope raised $ 23 million for cancer research. Since then, the Terry Fox Run has been held every year.
The Terry Fox Run has no prizes. It is for all people. People can run, walk, ride bicycles--even wear funny clothes. No one has to pay to run. Participants try to get people to sponsor(赞助) them. Most of this money goes directly to cancer research in Canada. It takes place on the second Sunday after Labour Day.

As we all know, labor education is very important to students. In my mind, labor education can not only teach us life skills, but also provide us with the chance to help our parents share the house-work.
So in my free time, I often help my parents do housework, such as washing clothes, cleaning the house, cooking meals, and so on. Sometimes I should repeat several times to do my work well. It was so tired that I wanted to give up, but I went on. By doing these chores, I gradually become more patient, more responsible and more independent. It also helps me form good habits.
