Dear Jack
Knowing that you're coming to Hangzhou, I am delighted to extend my warm welcome to
you. Here are my suggestions for your visit to Hangzhou.
Undoubtedly, West Lake is the first stop, where you can either go cycling along the lake or go
boating on the lake to feast your eyes on natural beauty. Next, the Dragon Well is highly
recommended, which is famous for its natural scenery and traditional Chinese tea culture. Here,
you can not only experience the daily life of local people, but also taste some local dishes and
snacks. Finally, museum is a must to have a fascinating insight into the history of Hangzhou
traditional products. All these tourist attractions are all accessible by subway, which is fast and
easy to take in Hangzhou.
Hope my suggestions are helpful to you. Have a good time in Hangzhou!

附:听力原文
(Text 1)
W: You’re always cleaning around the house on weekends. I think you must enjoy it.
M: Not really.
W: To my surprise. But your house is tidy and clean.
M: I know. I’d rather relax or go hiking. But weekends are the only time I can clean the house.
(Text 2)
W: Hey George, you look tired. What have you been up to
M: I’ve just got back from the Philippines. The flight was long, but it was great; the beaches were
beautiful and the hotel was really relaxing.
W: Wow, amazing!
(Text 3)
W: Alan and I are going to eat at the restaurant by the station after the meeting. Would you like to
come along
M: I went there about two months ago, and the service was pretty slow.
W: Well, I heard they had a new manager a couple of weeks ago, so maybe it’s better now. And it’s
close enough to walk to.
(Text 4)
M: I have no idea whether my workmates will come to the party or not.
W: Don’t worry. We have enough food for all of them.
(Text 5)
W: How is your brother doing
M: He’s great. He’s been training hard for a 42 kilometer race in June.
W: That’s fantastic. What’s he doing to prepare
M: He runs about 10 kilometers every other day and he watches his diet carefully.
(Text 6)
W: Good afternoon. Thank you for calling Wilson Law Firm. This is Monica.
M: Hi, Monica, this is Carl from Wholesale Office Supplies. I am returning your call about the
broken copy machine in your shop. I can come by and fix it tomorrow afternoon if that’s okay.
W: Actually, I have quite a few documents that I need to copy as soon as possible. Is there any
chance you could come this afternoon
M: Hmm … I could probably fit you in sometime late this afternoon. I’ll call you about 30
minutes before I get there.
W: Okay, thank you. See you then.
(Text 7)
M: Excuse me. I’m looking for a video camera. I’ve never had one before, and I’m wondering if
you could make some suggestions.
W: Sure. It’ll help, though, to know what your specific needs are and how much you’d like to
spend.
M: Well, I plan to use it most when I go on vacation. I have a couple of trips coming up, and I’d
like to record my experiences. I’ve never operated video equipment, though, so I’d like
{#{QQABDYIAogigQAAAAAgCUwEQCAOQkACCCAoGgBAAoAABAQFABAA=}#}
something that’s basic.
W: In that case, I’d recommend the Sepler 83. I personally like this one the best because it’s very
easy to operate.
(Text 8)
W: Hi, Jane calling. I’m on the bus headed to the restaurant for the customer dinner, but I’m
running late. My meeting was longer than I expected.
M: Oh, right — the sales meeting. So do you know how to get to the restaurant
W: Well, I just know it’s near Cloverfield Park, but I’m not sure how to get to the restaurant from
the bus stop. Could you meet me there so I can walk over with you
M: Sure. How soon
W: I don’t know, but right now we’re passing the City Musuem.
M: Oh, so it’ll be about ten minutes. I’ll see you soon.
(Text 9)
W: Don’t you live by the new supermarket
M: I used to, but I didn’t really like the area, so last year we decided to move back to Manhattan.
Now we can go anywhere on foot, even the kids’ school is only a ten-minute walk. We live in
that new building next to the old cake shop.
W: Oh, that’s great. It’s an amazing building. I drive past it every day to get here to the office.
M: I have to say we’re quite lucky. Actually, I know it’s quite near but since you drive past my
building every day, maybe you could give me a lift when the weather’s bad, so I don’t have to
take the crowded bus.
W: Yes. And they’re saying it’s going to rain all day tomorrow. What time shall I pick you up Is
7:45 too early for you
M: Not at all. 7:45 is just fine. See you tomorrow, then.
W: See you.

This morning it was harder for me to get out of bed than usual. Usually, I have nightmares (噩梦 )
because of the terrible movies I watched the night before, and sometimes spicy (辛辣的) food makes me
feel uncomfortable in sleeping. However, last night I turned all night because my anxiety was at an all-time
high. I kept thinking about what my first day of high school would be like. What should I wear What
should I put in my schoolbag I finally fell asleep around 5:45 and my alarm started going off at 6.
I couldn’t let those thoughts cloud my mind. I had to prepare myself for one of the most important
days of my life. I packed my things and headed out of the door. My first class wasn’t too bad. I listened to
my English teacher discuss the importance of themes, but otherwise, it was a pretty easy-going class.
During lunchtime, I had a pizza and an orange soda. I’m grateful for the food not tasting terrible so I
wouldn’t keep thinking about that all day. I still didn’t manage to find any new friends to sit with, but I’m
just happy I found a quiet place to stay. It would have been uncomfortable if I had to sit in a noisy
classroom to eat lunch, or an empty hallway with some kids walking past and laughing.
Once the last bell rang, I was eager to get home and tell Charlie, my childhood friend how my day
went at a new school. I was just excited to speak to a familiar voice and share my feelings of the whole day.
I wondered how his day went at his new school as well. I got on the same train line that I took to school and
headed back home.
Speaking to Charlie on the phone, I found out he made many new friends today. Once I got off the
phone, I threw myself on the bed with a long sigh (叹气). Although I’d experience this again tomorrow, I’m
glad I got through my first day at school.
24.Why did the author fail to fall asleep last night
A. I felt anxious because of preparations for school.
B. The alarm kept ringing.
C. The spicy food made me feel uncomfortable in sleeping .
D. I had nightmares because of a terrible movie.
25. What does the underlined word“head” in paragraph 2 mean
A. The mind or the brain B. To move in a particular direction
C. The part of the body on top of the neck D. To be at the front of a line of people
26. What can we infer from the third paragraph
A. The author disliked eating in a noisy place.
B. The author was quite satisfied with the food.
C. The author made some new friends at school.
D. The author found it difficult to find a quiet place.
27. How did the author feel after talking to Charlie

We are often in the cases: in a lift, in line at the bank or on an airplane, surrounded by people who are,
like us, deeply focused on their smart phones or, worse, struggling with the uncomfortable silence.
What's the problem It's possible that we all have been used to conversational intelligence. It's more
likely that none of us start a conversation because it's awkward and challenging, or we think it's annoying
and unnecessary. But the next time you find yourself among strangers, consider that small talk is worth the
trouble. Experts say it's an invaluable social practice that results in big benefits.
Avoiding small talk as unimportant is easy, but we can't forget that deep relationships wouldn't even
exist if it weren't for casual conversation. Small talk is the grease(润滑剂) for social communication, says
Bernardo Carducci, director of the Shyness Research Institute at Indiana University Southeast. "Almost
every great love story and each big business deal begins with small talk," he explains. "The key to
successful small talk is learning how to connect with others, not just communicate with them.”
In a 2014 study, Elizabeth Dunn, associate professor of psychology at UBC, invited people on their
way into a coffee shop. One group was asked to find out an interaction(互动)with its waiter, the other, to
speak only when necessary. The results showed that those who chatted with their server reported much
higher positive feelings and a better coffee shop experience. "It’s not that talking to the waiter is better than
talking to your husband. " Says Dunn. "But interactions with peripheral (边缘的) members of our social
network matter for our well-being also."
Dunn believes that people who reach out to strangers feel a even greater sense of belonging, a
connection with others. Carducci believes developing such a sense of belonging starts with small talk.
"Small talk is the basis of good manners," he says.
28. What phenomenon is described in the first paragraph
A. Use of smart phone
B. Unsuitable behaviors in public places
C. Impatience with slow service
D. Absence of communication between strangers.
29. What is important for successful small talk according to Carducci
A. Showing good manners. B. Focusing on a topic.
C. Relating to other people. D. Making business deals
30. What does the coffee-shop study suggest about small talk
A. It improves family relationships. B. It raises people's confidence.
C. It makes people feel good. D. It matters as much as a formal talk.
31. What is the best title for the text
A. Conversation Matters B. Benefits of Small Talk

Feel tired and frustrated after staying up for a night that even coffee doesn't give you the energy that
you need You may have an energy drink, but the benefits of drinking one are heavily outweighed by the
risks.
In the past years, more and more studies have found the deadly effects of energy drinks on our bodies.
The sugar, caffeine and energy supplements(添加物)in energy drinks make up a deadly mixture that can
affect your heart function and send you to the hospital!
A study by the University of Bonn, Germany, found that having energy drinks so often can greatly
change the way our heart functions. The study went on to say that consuming energy drinks often causes
largely increased heart contractions(收缩)in adults, which may lead to irregular heartbeats.
It is possible that many people know nothing of the harmful effects of energy drinks because of the
way they are advertised. Most energy drinks contain between 80 milligrams to over 350 milligrams of
caffeine, sugar and energy supplements. When an energy drink is marketed as a diet supplement it may be
sold without a “nutrition facts" label(标签), which would show the harmful supplements that are in the
drink. However, even if energy drinks are Food and Drug Administration (FDA) agreed, they don't have to
show the number of supplements.
Energy drinks may be widely available but they aren't the healthiest or safest choice for your body. To
stay naturally energized, get organized and stay on top of your work, you aren't having to stay up all night
to complete assigned tasks. If you'd like a natural energy boost you could make time for a short exercise,
which will give you all of the energy you need!
32. Which of the following is the harmful effect of the energy drinks
A. Making people thinner. B. Making people fatter.
C. Making people’s heart bigger. D. Making people risk falling ill.
33. Why don't many people know the harmful effects of energy drinks
A. Because they don't read the directions carefully.
B. Because the harmful materials are not shown clearly.
C. Because FDA thinks they are healthy drinks.
D. Because factories of energy drinks lie to drinkers.
34. What is the author’s attitude towards energy drinks
A. indifferent B. ambiguous C. negative D. positive
35. What might be the main idea of the text
A. Energy drinks benefit you a lot.
B. Many people enjoy energy drinks.

These days our society develops rapidly and forces people to rush. It seems that people have got used
to being in a hurry. 36.__________
The main reason that we should not work in a hurry is the possibility of doing wrongs in a rush.
When people do their jobs or take action in a hurry, they can’t make a right decision. 37._______ We
should think carefully before making a decision and do our work less quickly.
Slowing down the pace of life helps people enjoy their life better. 38.__________However, taking a
train makes people have enough time to get to know a lot of new friends and fully enjoy the beautiful
scenery along the way. On the contrary, being in a hurry will make us lose chances of enjoying our lives.
39.__________ .As is known to all, taking action in a hurry bothers people and raises their stress.
Being in a hurry can hurt people both physically and mentally. According to some studies, people who have
a slower pace suffer fewer diseases, tend to be happier and live much longer than those whose life is tense
(焦虑的).
In short, working quickly will bring about more benefits to make our society more advanced. Yet, much
stress can't bring enjoyment, friends and health, which are much more important than money and other
material advantages. 40.________________
A.However, it’s better for people to live their life at a slower pace than to hurry.
B. Finally, slower life pace provides better health conditions for us.
C. Slower life pace makes us happier.

E. As the saying goes,“ Haste(仓促)makes waste.”

Mark is leaving, and I’m feeling kind of sad.
You probably don’t know Mark, but you might be 41 enough to know someone just like him.

And now he’s moving on to an exciting new opportunity which sounds like the chance of a lifetime,
and we’re 43 pleased for him. But that doesn’t make it any easier to say goodbye to a dear friend and
44 colleague.
Life has a way of throwing these curve balls(曲线球) at us. Just when we start to get comfortable with
a person, a place or a situation, something comes along to 45 it.
But how do we deal with change There’s Chris, who once told me that the answer can be expressed
in four words, “Go 46 the flow.”
“It is like surfing,” Chris explained. “You can’t organize the ocean. 47 just happen. You ride
them 48 they take you, and then you go back out there and catch the next one. Sure, you’re always
hoping for the perfect wave. But 49 you just take them the way they come.”
That doesn’t 50 that you don’t keep trying to make all your dreams come true. It just means that
when things 51 that aren’t exactly in your plan, you work around them—and then you move on. Of
course, some barriers(阻碍) along the 52 of life are easier to take than others. A rained-out picnic, for
example, is 53 to deal with than the sudden death of a loved one. But the principle is the same.
We’re going to 54 Mark. But rather than on the sadness of our 55 , we’ll focus on our
