The State of Colorado has four of the best parks out of the 58 national parks in
the United States. The parks have some of the best scenery of all the national parks.
Gunnison National Park
This park offers the most breathtaking views from up in the mountains into the
canyons (峡谷) below. While exploring the canyons, you will find that the walls drop
nearly straight down into the narrow valleys of the snake-like rivers below.Visitors are
offered more than 100 camping sites, and a lot of bird species and many animals are

were once home to American Indians. Many of these dwellings can be walked through,
while you imagine what each room may have been used for so many years ago.
Great Sand Dunes(沙丘)National Park

Susan Brownell Anthony was a lady ahead of her time. She fought for women's
rights long before it became a popular issue.
Susan was born on February 15, 1820, in Adams, Massachusetts. At that time,
women had few rights. They could not own property. Money earned by a married
woman belonged to her husband. Major decisions regarding children were made by
the fathers. Women could not vote.
At the age of 15, Susan became a school teacher. She taught for 15 years. Then
she began organizing women's groups to promote causes that were important to
4
women. She helped gain better educational rights for women. She helped give married
women possession of their earnings.
After the Civil War, Susan became very involved in the Woman's Suffrage
Movement. After years of lecturing, writing, and appealing by Susan and other
women, some parts of the United States changed their laws to give women the right to
vote. The first state was Wyoming in 1869. Other areas and states gradually followed
Wyoming's decision. It was not until 1920 that the US Constitution was changed to
give all women voting rights.
Susan Brownell Anthony died in 1906 at the age of 86. She was elected to the
American Hall of Fame in 1950. She was the first American woman to have a
likeness(肖像) of her face on a coin. It was the 1979 Susan Brownell Anthony dollar.

C
A robot may be defined as a machine that can be programmed to perform acts
automatically. With the increase in high technology, robots are taking over boring or
inconvenient work in many areas of life.
One area where robots are making an appearance is farming. There is a robotic
revolution going on in the milking industry, and cows, as well as farmers are
experiencing the benefits. The advantage for the cows is that they can choose when
and how many times a day they want to be milked. On the other hand, farmers no
5
longer have to get up at 4 am every day to go to the milking sheds and this makes a
huge difference to their way of life.
In traditional farming, cows are milked twice a day, in the morning and the
evening, mainly because: this is the most convenient way for farmers to get two
milking sessions completed in one day. However, this is not necessarily the best way
for each individual cow. Because the robots are programmed to milk the cows
whenever they arrive, the cows can be milked once, twice or even four times a day. It
is an entirely voluntary system for the cows. They decide.
Farmers report that midnight is a particularly busy time at the milking shed. The
interesting thing is the cows like the system once they get used to it. Farmers report
that milk production increases, the cows live longer and they seem far more relaxed.
The computerized robotic system is entirely automatic. As the cows enter the
facility, they are weighed, milked and productivity and health checks are carried out.
The facility cleans itself at regular intervals(间隔)and if there is a problem, the robot
sends the farmer a message.
Equipping a farm with robots is not cheap. However, farmers who have installed
the robotic milking sheds, say they would never go back to the old system. The
commonly reported sight of cows queuing patiently in front of their favourite robot
must mean the cows like it too.
28.What is the purpose of the first paragraph
A.To talk about a kind of robot.
B.To tell the importance of robots.
C.To introduce the applications of robots.
D.To provide the definition of robotic system.
29.What benefit may robots bring to the cows according to the text
A.They can be freer to be milked.
B.They can be milked twice a day.
C.They can choose the day to be milked.
D.They can get up at 4 am to be milked.
6
30.Which of the following would the author probably agree
A.The robotic system is entirely automatic except for health checks.
B.The robotic system is so expensive that farmers will never install one.
C.The robotic system is voluntary for cows to be milked of their own free will.
D.Morning and evening are the two most convenient milking sessions for cows.
31.What would be the best title for the text
A.A robotic revolution in milking
C.Hands free for the farmers
B.Cows favourite helper
D.An expensive milking shed
D
The climate change has become an issue that no one can escape from. If the
world wants to limit climate change, water shortage and pollution,we all need to
choose“flexitarian(弹性素的)”diets,say scientists.
This means eating mainly plant-based food, which is one of three key steps
towards a sustainable future for all in 2050,they say. Food waste will need to be
halved and farming practices will also have to improve, according to the study.
Without action, the impacts of the food system could increase by up to 90%. Fast on
the heels of the landmark report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate
Change(IPCC) comes this new study on how food production and consumption
impact major threats to the planet.
The authors say that the food system has a number of significant environmental
impacts including being a major driver of climate change, providing freshwater and
reducing pollution through over use of nitrogen (氮) and phosphorus (磷).
The study says that thanks to the population and income growth expected
between 2010 and2050, these impacts could grow between 50%~90%. This could
push our world beyond its geographic boundaries. So when it comes to climate
change, the authors looked at what they called a“flexitarian diet”.
“We can eat a range of healthy diets but what they all have in common, according
to the latest scientific evidence, is that they are all relatively plant-based,"said lead
author Dr. Marco Springmann from the University of Oxford.
“You can go from a diet that has small amounts of animal products; some might
call it a Mediterranean-based diet; we call it a flexitarian diet. We tried to stay with
the most conservative one of these which in our view is the flexitarian one, but even
this has only one serving of red meat per week,” he added.
If the world moved to this type of diet, the study found that greenhouse gas
7
emissions(排放)from agriculture would be reduced by more than half.
32. What benefit will the new diets bring to the world
A.The animals will be saved.
B. People will need more water.
D. The pollution will be controlled
C. The climate change will stop.
33. What can be called a“flexitarian" diet
A. Eat animal products every meal.
B. Eat plant-based vegetables every meal.
C. Eat mainly vegetables and never eat animal products.
D. Eat plant-based meal mainly and animal products sometimes.
34.What will happen if the new diet is popular globally
A.The climate will become warmer.
B. The food consumption will increase.
C. People will have less greenhouse gas. D. People will produce more food waste.
35. What is the attitude of the author to the new diet
A.Supportive.
B. Doubtful.
C. Opposed.
D. Indifferent.

Online courses have become popular in many countries. There are different
kinds of online courses, but most show a video of a teacher and students in a
classroom. Students watch the video online and take part in online activities. Some
courses are free and open to anyone. of course, watching videos on a screen
is not the same as taking part in a real class.
In Singapore, eight schools have been chosen to try new ways of using
technology in the classroom. The schools have tablets (平板电脑)and touchscreens
instead of books and blackboards in the classrooms. Through them, students
36
37
38
can communicate with each other and work on projects together.
In South Korea, some students have been taught English by teachers in the
Philippines and other countries since 2011.The teachers are in their home country and
are connected to the South Korean classrooms through the Internet. Instead of looking
at a screen, the students interact with a robot in the classroom. The robot is controlled
8
by the teachers.
39
Thanks to technology, more and more ways of teaching and learning are being
developed.

Last weekend, I went to Mark’s new house near a forest for a little get-together.
After lunch when I was chatting with him and his wife Cody, he asked me,“Hey,
Thora, have you ever been to a secret spot ” Before I could even finish saying
no,Cody and Mark were already at the door with their jackets on. And the next
moment we were heading out into the forest with a camera, a fishing net and a plastic
bucket (桶).
We walked through the forest along a path by a small river. Breathing the fresh
air, we three talked and laughed all the way.
11
“Hey! What are you guys doing ” someone suddenly shouted from behind. Mark
and Cody's eyes immediately widened, and without a word they started running. I had
no choice but to follow them, getting my shoes wet and dirty with mud. We probably
ran for about 10 minutes before Mark and Cody slowed down. I stopped to catch my
breath and asked,“Who is that ”
Mark replied,“The most annoying neighbor ever. There’s no telling what could
happen if he caught up with us. He is always making fun of us. I dislike him.” We
kept walking on for a few more minutes. Then a beautiful lake appeared before our
eyes. “Wow! Amazing!” I shouted and could hardly hold back my excitement. The
lake was large and the water was deep and blue, looking so peaceful with tall trees
around it.

应用文范文:
Dear Chris,
Reading your email asking about interesting things that happened to me, am writing to share
with you a discussion held in my class recently on the topic"ls watching a movie better than
watching the original work "
My classmates have different views on the topic. Some of them are in favor of seeing films,
for seeing films can save time and films are easy for people to understand. However, others prefer
reading books to seeing films. They think there are more details in the book and readers can
appreciate the charm of language as well.
In my opinion, reading the book may be the better choice, because books are closely related
to the author's view and it's convenient to enjoy a book anytime and anywhere you like.
Yours,
Li Jin

M: Grandma Moses is among the most well-known 20th-century painters of the United States, yet
she had hardly started painting before she was in her late seventies. She was born on a farm in
New York, one of five boys and five girls. At 12, she left home and worked as a housekeeper until
she married Thomas Moses at 27. They farmed most of their lives, first in Virginia and then in
New York. Grandma Moses began to paint using oils in her old age because she wanted to keep
busy and pass the time. Her pictures were first sold at the local drugstore and at a market, and
were soon noticed by a businessman who bought everything she painted. Three of those pictures
were exhibited in the Museum of Modern Art, and in 1940, she had her first exhibition in New
York. Between the 1930s and her death, she produced some 1, 600 pictures.
