I have a rule for travel: Never carry a map. I prefer to ask for directions.
Foreign visitors are often lost in Japan because most streets there don't have names. In Japan, people use landmarks in their directions instead of street names. For example, the Japanese will say to travelers. “Go straight down to the corner. Turn left at the big hotel and go past a fruit market. The post office is across from the bus stop.”
In the countryside of the American Midwest, usually there are not many landmarks. Instead of landmarks, people will tell you directions and distance. For example, people will say. “Go north two miles. Turn east, and then go another mile.”
People in Los Angeles, California, have no idea of distance on a map. They measure distance by means of time, not miles, “How far away is the post office ” you ask. “Oh,” they answer, “it's about five minutes from here.” You say, “Yes, but how many miles away is it ” They usually don't know. People in Greece sometimes do not even try to give directions because not many visitors can understand the Greek language. Instead of giving you directions,a Greek will often say, “Follow me.” Then he'll lead you through the streets of the city to the place.
One thing will help you everywhere— in Japan, in the US, in Greece, or in any other place. You may not understand a person's words, but maybe you can understand his body language. He will usually turn and then point in the correct direction. Go in that direction, and you may find the place!
32. The underlined word “landmarks” means “streets”.
33. If you ask people in Los Angeles for directions, they will tell you the time you have to spend.
34. The Greek language is widely used by people all over the world.
35. There are different ways to give directions in different countries.

We can spend time with close friends. People who have close friends usually enjoy happier and healthier lives.
The second secret of happiness is to be active. Many people go dancing. People can forget about their problems and only think about the activities.
Finally, many people find happiness in helping others. According to studies, people feel good when they volunteer their time to do many meaningful things for other people. Social phobia (社交恐惧症) seems to have been common these days. Many young people describe themselves as having “social phobia”. These people prefer not to go out much, and it's hard for them to make new friends.
In fact, this is just a reaction (反应) to certain social situations. US researcher Ty Tashiro wrote a book that explains that some people don't “read” social situations correctly, so they end up feeling uncomfortable. For example, they might be afraid of breaking some kind of unspoken rule. As a result, they start to act embarrassedly (尴尬地) . Because of this, they gradually prefer to stay in instead of going out to meet new people.
And someone may have social anxiety disorder (社交焦虑症) and it is much more serious. People with social anxiety disorder want to go out and communicate with people, but they are so afraid of doing it that they cannot leave their homes. Their brains simply won't allow them to communicate with others in a normal way.
Luckily, social anxiety disorder can be treated. Some people simply use self-help books to help them get more control over their minds. Those who have more serious cases of social anxiety disorder can take medicine.
(1) What do people with social phobia prefer to do Is it easy for them to make new friends
(2) Why do they start to act embarrassedly according to Ty Tashiro

(4) How can people do to treat the social anxiety disorder

第六节 书面表达(共1题,满分15分)
One possible version:
Traditional festivals are an important part of our culture. However, with the development of society, we have new ways to celebrate them. As for me, I still like the traditional way.
Last year, I celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival with my family. When the moon rose high in the sky, my parents laid out the delicious meal on the table. Then we made video calls with our relatives far away from us with excitement. Everyone couldn't wait to see each other. My mother and aunt enjoyed sharing their stories in life. As for me, I just talked to my grandparents and told them how fine we were. The small room was full of laughter, but behind the joy lied the deep love. So you see, the true meaning of the Mid-Autumn Festival is getting together.
To spread our traditional culture, we can share such stories online to let more foreigners know traditional Chinese festivals. Also, if possible, it's a good idea to invite them to celebrate with us.
