I was a seventeen-year-old freshman and I just came to Houston’s Jackson Junior High. It seemed that I would have difficulties finishing high school because I was a troubled teenager. However, one person came into my life quietly and then totally changed everything
The first year in my school, Mr. Lemon taught me American history. He was quite different from the other teachers I had known. But he was indeed a great teacher.
One day, Mr. Lemon called me aside and asked why I was a B student in his class but a C student in the rest of my classes. I passionately told him about my busy parents and unfriendly living environment--all of the worsening things I had experienced and problems I had faced. It was then that Mr. Lemon patiently explained that the only person responsible for my situation was me. And the only person with the potential to change my situation was me. I was told that I failed not because I was a failure. He inspired me to become a better student.
Ten years later, I was preparing to graduate from a university. The first person coming to my mind was him. So, I tried to reach him and called to tell him that I really wished him to Hawaii and see this important moment together with me.
I’ll never forget his response. He said. “Who is this again ”
At that moment, I came to realize that I was just one of hundreds of the students whose lives were changed by him but he had no idea of his influence.
Mr. Lemon never came to my graduation, but his absence taught me another valuable lesson. His final lesson for me was that we will never know or understand the influence we have on other people’s lives. And he also taught me that we all have the opportunity to affect people’s lives for the better ... or for the worse.

How to Learn English Well
Hello, everyone! Let’s discuss something about English learning. English is becoming more and more popular. We can learn a lot about the world and change the way we look at the world by learning English, so it’s important to learn English well.
I think it’s a good idea to develop interest in what we learn. I often connect what I need to learn with something interesting. For example, I read English newspapers and magazines every day. I listen to English songs, watch English movies and join the English club to practice spoken English. Besides, I improve my English by writing down the key words and drawing mind maps.
Hope my ways of learning English are helpful to you.

M: Lily, welcome to our tea farm! Today I will show you the process for making tea.
W: I know that tea is widely grown all over Asia, but is there a reason why China is known for tea
M: It has a lot to do with the weather. Tea plants need a lot of water and warm weather. That is why even in China, tea is mostly grown in areas like Anxi and Hangzhou.
W: So why is the tea so dark when the tea leaves themselves are actually green on the bushes
M: Very good question. The tea leaves go through a long process before they are turned into
products you can buy at local stores.
W: What kind of process
M: First, after growing on the sides of the mountains for 3 years, the plants are big enough. People pick the leaves and then put them on a flat surface and wait for them to dry.
W: Can’t you use fresh tea leaves to make tea
M: No. To get the nice strong tea taste when you put leaves in hot water, they must be dried first.
W: Wow, I didn’t know that, so that is just why the leaves change the color.
M: Correct. When you dry or heat the leaves, they lose their color and shape.
