Dear Jack,
I’m terribly sorry to learn that you are so anxious about the coming mid-term examination that you are
suffering from bad sleep and inefficient reviewing. I’d like to share some suggestions with you.
First of all, I think making a reasonable and practical plan is of great benefit, which will remind you to
do something regularly so as to fundamentally reduce your stress. Meanwhile, don’t forget to spare a
certain period of time for daily exercise to relax yourself both physically and mentally, which will in turn
ensure a good sleep. Last but not the least, do have self-confidence . As long as we have made every effort
to study, it will pay off finally.
I hope my advice will get you through the challenging moment. Looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Li Hua

And from the moment the runners left the starting blocks, it looked like the skeptics(怀疑者) would be
proved right. In the first miles of the race , Cliff was quickly left trailing behind his more experienced
competitors. He didn’t even seem to be running properly - he dragged himself forward slowly, which put
him in danger of injury, let alone completing the course. That first night, when all the competitors went to
sleep after almost 18-hour running, he just put his head down and continued his slow plodding throughout
the night and into the early morning. All the audience were more certain of his failure.
However, according to Cliff, it was all part of his plan. He intended to run constantly, refusing to stop for
sleep. Cilff shuffled on and on, as if there were countless sheep waiting for him to round up in front.
Gradually, he narrowed his gap, getting closer and closer to the front of the pack. By the last night, his
unique shuffle wasn ' t so funny anymore - it had powered him right through to the first position, and even
help him set a new world record. Cliff was crowned the winner , and the whole world cheered with him.
