Four years ago when I was a boy of 11, I got into the biggest trouble as a kid. It was a Saturday morning. Both my parents were out, leaving me and my 10-month-old sister home alone. Anyway, my sister was still asleep in her room. In fact I had the house to myself. I decided to do some drawing. Soon I gave up. Nothing was on TV, so I felt bored and touched the candles on the shelf…I had an idea! What would happen if I set fire to some kitchen paper Well, of course it went on fire, but it wasn't the tiny flame(火苗) I'd expected, and I couldn't blow it out. I threw it on the floor, and then I got my dad's boots(靴子) and stamped it out.
But there was a huge hole left on the floor. When my mum came home later, she smelt the smoke immediately. She dropped the shopping bag, luckily for me, over the hole. I thought this meant she would never see it. However, after running round the house checking for a fire, she of course picked up the bag and saw the hole. Next I was grounded(关禁闭) for months. We’ll finally grow up someday, leaving our parents and facing the challenges in life. Parents may not be able to solve every problem for us. Instead, we should have enough life skills to cope with the problems that come our way.
This is what our country tries to do now: Helping more students gain working spirit. To stress the importance of hardworking spirit education (劳动教育) among students of different ages, the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council released a guideline recently.
The guideline calls for students to respect work. Students should learn basic life skills and form good working habits through such education.

According to a study of nearly 3,000 students that was done by Ningbo Evening News in March, only 22 percent of primary and middle school students help with everyday chores around the house.
Schools and families play an important role in teaching students about the value of working hard, the guideline says. Primary and middle schools should provide students with hardworking spirit classes every week, according to the guideline. Schools can also hold activities to give students real-world work experience. For example, schools can teach children how to plant trees on Tree-Planting Day.

Over just a few days in January, millions of people across China were racking their brains They were taking part live-streaming (直播) quiz shows on several apps. Some of these apps include Chongdingdahui, Huajiao Zhibo , Xigua Shipin and Douyin.
Different from TV quiz shows like Happy Dictionary (《开心辞典》) and Who’s Still Standing (《一站到底》), anyone with a smartphone or tablet can participate (参加) in the live-streaming shows every day, communicating with other players at the same time.
The shows have hosts to present the questions. While the participants give their answers, they help to liven up the show by telling jokes or giving some background for the question. Each online player has 10 seconds to answer a question, with each show taking around 20 to 30 minutes.
Prizes ranging (在……范围内变动) between 100,000 yuan to 5 million yuan are being offered, with the winners sharing the prize money at the end. Depending on the total amount of prize money and the number of winners, players can win prizes as small as 1 yuan and as high as more than 40,000 yuan.
The questions are chosen from a wide range of topics, including literature (文学), geography, mathematics and biology, among many others. For example, players may be asked how many legs crabs have, or what Australia’s national flower is.

根据短文开头“Four years ago when I was a boy of 11, I got into the biggest trouble as a kid.”
根据“Well, of course it went on fire, but it wasn't the tiny flame(火苗) I'd expected, and I couldn't blow it out. I threw it on the floor, and then I got my dad's boots(靴子) and stamped it out.”
根据短文中“I threw it on the floor, and then I got my dad's boots(靴子) and stamped it out.” 故选A。
根据文意和短文开头“Four years ago when I was a boy of 11, I got into the biggest trouble as a kid.”
短文的开头第一句话就是文章的中心句,第5小题考查文章大意,原文中的“…got into the biggest trouble”与选项C中“….made a big trouble”同义,故C是正确答案。
