How important is music Many people usually think that listening to music is nice but nor very
important. It is often only thought to be entertainment, but not the first choice for education. The
opinion is wrong. 1
2 Music reflects the musicians' thoughts and ideas, and the social environment they came from. For example, just as Mozart's music represents a lifestyle, rock music also represents a lifestyle. George Gershwin's music is another example. He introduced jazz style into his music.
3 Science explains how the Sun rises and sets. Music explores emotional meanings, such as
sadness and happiness. People need every possible way to learn about our world.
Music shows people's thoughts. It's a special language. we can "talk" to each other and exchange
our thoughts in this amazing way. Through the language, we express our feelings, discoveries, ideas
and hopes. 4 When we do not let our children receive a good music education, we take them away
from the meaning that music expresses. Our children are lacking in a wonderful part in their lives. 5
Music makes our daily lives colourful. So music education is necessary for all students. Music tells us who we are. In fact, music education is much more necessary than people usually think. Music provides a kind of ability to know the world in a different way. All of these can be shared with others. Music is part of our daily lives.

“Without music, life would be a mistake,” famous German philosopher(哲学家) Friendrich Nietzsche said over a century ago. Music is a big part of our lives. But in recent years, some US schools have cut music classes to control budgets(预算).
For example, Chicago public schools hurt arts education when it fired(解雇)over 1,000 teachers. Among them, 10 percent of the teachers taught art or music, according to The Washington Times. In fact, this is not just a problem in the US. In other countries, such as China and the UK, music classes are not thought to be as important as ones like science, math and history. That’s partly because music is not seen as a very important life skill, and it isn’t tested. Many students are busy with schoolwork, so parents and students choose to focus on subjects that are tested more often.
However, learning music is beneficial(有益的)in many ways.
When playing music, you need different abilities to work together. It is not as simple as it looks, according to Kenneth Guilmartin of Music Together, an early childhood music development program. For example, when playing the piano, people see music notes and decode(解码) them in their brains. They also use their fingers to make sounds. You need to deal with all these things at the same time.
Music has a special connection with science as well. You can see that many scientists are good at playing music: Einstein played the violin, and German physicist Max Planck was talented in playing the piano.

Flow like the river of change
Little stream ran down from a high mountain through many villages and forests. Then it reached a desert. “I went through so many difficulties. I should have no problem crossing the desert,” she thought. As she started, she found herself slowly disappearing into the sand. After many tries, she still failed. “Maybe I can’t reach the ocean,’’ she said sadly to herself.
At this time, a deep voice said, “If a breeze(微风)can cross the desert, so can a river.” It was the voice of the desert. But the little stream answered, “That’s because a breeze can fly, but I cannot. ”
“That’s because you can’t give up what you are. Let yourself evaporate(蒸发)into the breeze, and it can take you across,” said the desert. “Give up what I am now No! No!” The little stream could not accept this idea. “The breeze can carry the vapor(蒸汽) across the desert and let it leave as rain. The rain will form a river again,” said the desert. “And whether you’re a river or vapor, your nature never changes.” Hearing this, the little stream went into the open arms of the breeze. It carried her to the next stage of her life.
