It was a hot summer day and I had just pulled into the gas station to fill up my car. After filling it up, I started to walk inside to pay. That is when I noticed them. Two elderly women were standing back from their car. There was shock and fear on their faces. I looked and saw what they saw: five yellow jackets(小黄蜂)building a nest around their gas cap. I suddenly felt scared. I shared the ladies’ fear.
Yellow jackets have never been friends of mine. Several times these wasps(黄蜂)have attacked(攻击)me while l was cutting the grass, stinging(蛰)me each time I ran over their nests. The worst time however, was when I was a young boy. A friend of mine and I were playing in my backyard. I must have stepped on one of their nests again because before I knew it, both of us were being chased and stung by the yellow jackets while we ran away screaming(尖叫). I ran to my mom with tears in my eyes. She ran a cold bath and put us both in it to ease(减轻)the pain before giving us medicine to help us feel better.
Still, I knew I couldn’t let fear stop me now. I reached into my pocket for a paper to well had there, tore out the nest and stepped on it while the wasps buzzed around me. Both of the ladies thanked me for what I did
You can’t let the fear of being stung—either physically or emotionally(情感上的)—keep you from doing what is right. We need to love each other and change the world for the better. And the only way you can do this is through helpful acts and kindness. Don’t let the yellow jackets in your life hold you back.

One sunny day, a happy grasshopper(蚱蜢) is dancing, singing and playing his violin. He sees an ant working.
“Come and sing with me,” says the grasshopper, “Let’s have fun together.” “I must store(储藏) food for winter,” says the ant, “and you should do the same.”
“Don’t worry about winter. It’s summer now. Winter is still very far away.” says the grasshopper, laughing at the ant. But the ant keeps working.
When winter comes, the hungry grasshopper goes to the ant’s house and asks for something to eat. “If you listen to me in summer, you will not be hungry,” says the ant. “I’m afraid you have to go to bed without dinner.” Then he closes the door.
The lesson of the grasshopper is useful to us. Don’t you think so
We should learn from ants. Work today, and you are sure to get more tomorrow. Whether you believe it or not, the truth is there. Five-year-old Jonny and ten-year-old John were friends. John was bigger and stronger than Jonny.
One day, they ran into a forest to play games. Suddenly John fell into a pit (深坑). Without wasting a minute, Jonny got a rope and gave one end to John and asked him to hold it. He tried hard to pull John out from the pit. Both of them cried, smiled and then walked towards home.
Since Jonny and John were away for a long time, their parents got worried. Many kind villagers helped search for them. When Jonny and John arrived home, their parents asked where they had gone.
Jonny and John told everyone what had happened in the forest, but almost nobody believed them. They thought a boy who was only five years old couldn’t help a person who was double his size and weight.
Jonny replied, “I used a rope.” Everyone laughed. Among the people was an old man. He said that everything the boys said was true.
A woman asked, “How was a five-year-old boy able to do that ” The old man replied, “Because there was no one to tell Jonny ‘you can’t do it.’”

You must have remembered the story from your childhood: an old man was worried about his sons who were always arguing among themselves. In order to teach them a lesson, he asked them to break a bundle (捆) of sticks tied together. Clearly, they were able to break each stick easily enough. Why This is because of the power of unity (团结).
The power of unity is known to all of us. But we often seem to forget it when it comes to individual (个体的) success. Most of us consider our success as a personal thing, and it has nothing to do with others.
Dr. John Maxwell, in his book Success Journey says that success is not a trip that you take alone. But it is something that you take with your family and your friends. Think about it — if at the end of all the achievements, you find yourself alone, will you call it success in a real sense
Your dream and your success do not belong to you alone. Even though you work hard towards your dream, there are people who are working behind to make sure that you are able to give you a hundred percent. For example, you are studying in school so that you can have good education.
Do you think that it is possible without unity Don’t you feel that these people are doing their best so that you can be successful And so, unity plays an important role, even if you are talking about your personal success. So it is your responsibility (责任) to keep unity if you really want to be successful in life. Only if you always treat things and people in your life seriously, will you succeed because all the things and people around you have connections in some way.

Trees are one of the oldest “citizens” of our Earth. They keep our air clean, reduce noise pollution, improve water quality and provide food and building materials.
Just like us, trees change a lot as they grow. At 1 to 3 years old, young trees learn how to protect themselves. For example, many trees grow thorns (刺) to warn animals not to go near. Most young trees have large, deep green leaves so that they can catch enough sunlight and change it into their food and energy.
When trees are 4 years old, they begin to grow very rapidly and become strong enough to face challenges later in life. At the age of 15, trees become young adults. They grow more slowly and begin to produce flowers and fruit. It is not until the tree is 20 to 25 years old that it becomes a real adult. The tree reaches its largest size. The adult tree gives us shade, oxygen and natural beauty; it is also a great place for a tree house, or a place for us to read a book, listen to music and so on. If we give the adult tree proper care, it will go on to live healthily for many years.
Gradually, trees begin to grow older and older and even die. At this time, they still have their important place in nature. When a tree becomes hollow or part of it becomes dead, it provides a home for small animals and is a source of food for many other animals.
In many ways, the life of a tree is similar to our own life experience. When we are looking at the life of a tree, we learn about that each period of life brings its own form of joy and challenge. Life is hard but the value of life is how you live it bravely. A man who overcomes himself is a real strong man in life. Don’t give up when you still have something to give. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.
Enjoy every minute of the life of the trees as well as ours!

In the book Life of Pi, Canadian writer Yann Martel chose a Bengal tiger as the partner for Indian boy Pi on his adventure in the Pacific Ocean.
In the West, ▲ . A famous phrase is: “Eye of the Tiger”, which means power and strength. In English, if you want someone to calm down, you can Say to them, “easy tiger”.
Tigers are also one of my favorite animals. I first learned about the beauty of tigers as a child, while watching animal programs. If you ask my mom, she’ll tell you that my favourite toy while growing up was my toy tiger, which I still treasure dearly to this day. As a young animal lover, I felt so sad that they were in danger and I wanted to help protect them.

Most of the water that a plant takes in goes back into the air. Plants give us a lot of the food on the earth. Fruits, vegetables, and grains come from plants. Without plants, we would not have bread, rice, carrots, apples, oranges, or bananas! Many people are growing plants to eat in their own gardens at home. Having your own garden helps the earth as well. When you grow your own fruits and vegetables, you help cut down on pollution because big trucks don’t need to take your food to shops. You also help reduce the amount of rubbish because you don’t need to use bags for packing your food. You can just put it into a basket!
