If you get into a forest with your friends, always stay with them. If you don't, you may get lost. If you really get lost, this is what you should do. Sit down and stay where you are. Don't try to find your friends — let them find you by staying in one place.
There is another way to help your friends to find you. Give them a signal(信号)by shouting or whistling(吹口哨)three times. Any signal given three times is a call for help.

Most of us know about fires, earthquakes, droughts and floods. But from time to time, Mother Nature surprises us and brings a terrible weather event (事件). Here are some examples of unusual weather phenomena(现象).
Strange rain: One day in 2005, people in a small town in Serbia looked out their windows and saw an unusual sight. It was raining frogs! Without any warning(先兆), they found their streets were filled with the little jumping animals. "There were thousands of them," someone said. "I thought maybe a plane carrying frogs exploded (爆炸)," said another. Scientists thought a tornado(龙卷风) passed over a lake and it carried the frogs into the air. Then the frogs dropped into the Serbian town.
Fire Tornadoes: Tornadoes don't seem to be dangerous enough, but some of them can be made of fire. When a wildfire reaches very high temperatures, it causes the air to become hot and to rise. Cooler air rushes in to replace(代替) hot air. This causes strong winds. These winds suck up burning plants and even the fire itself. When this happens, like it did in March, 2014, in Denver, a fire tornado is produced. This kind of tornado can grow as tall as a high building.
Great Balls of Ice: In 1942, hundreds of thousand-year-old skeletons (骨骼) were found under the ice of Lake Roopkund in the Himalayas. Many had holes in their skulls (头盖骨). But they weren't hurt in any other way. Scientists thought the people must have been hit from above. But for years, they haven't found out the cause of their deaths.
Today, scientists think these people were killed by giant hailstones — balls of ice that falls like rain. The size of ice pieces becomes larger until the wind cannot hold them up. Then hailstones fall to the ground, often at a high speed (速度). Unlucky people at Lake Roopkund had nowhere to run away, so they were all killed by the hailstones.
( )48.What is TRUE about the frogs raining down in Serbia according to scientists
A. They fell out of an exploded airplane.
B. They grew in the clouds and then fell down to the earth.
C. A heavy rain brought the frogs from a town far away.
D. A tornado took them from a lake and they dropped into the town.
( )49.We can put the sentence "This makes them very dangerous." at the end of .
A. Paragraph 1 B. Paragraph 2
C. Paragraph 3 D. Paragraph 4
( )50.What happens when little pieces of ice move around in the wind
A. They become bigger.
B. They become higher.
C. They fall to the ground as snow.
D. They become raindrops.
( )51.What can we infer(推断) according to the last two paragraphs
A. In 1942, hundreds of thousand-year-old skeletons were found.
B. Scientists haven't found out the cause of their deaths.
C. Many holes in the skulls are caused by balls of ice from the sky.
D. The hailstones fall to the ground, often at a high speed.
( )52.What is the best title for the passage
A. Unusual Weather Phenomena B. Mother Nature
C. Humans VS Nature D. Unusual Tornadoes

Parrots have been known to mimic(模仿)words, but have you ever thought how they communicate(交流) The sounds they make may sound meaningless to us, but a new study has found that wild parrots are given names by their parents.
According to the study led by Karl Berg of Cornell University in the US, nestlings(雏鸟)are given a special sound of their own, which stays with them for their whole lives. In the study, the team put cameras in the nests of seventeen different wild parrots. After studying their sounds, the team knew different calls made by parents when communicating with each nestling. And even before the nestlings had learned to communicate, they seemed to recognize(认出) and mimic their calls.
Sounds very similar to humans, doesn't it
The study also tells that these calls are got socially, not genetically(遗传地). To do this, scientists exchanged the eggs in nine of the seventeen nests, so more than half of the parrots didn't raise their nestlings. The scientists found the nestlings all used names similar to those the parents (whether biological(生物的) or nonbiological) called them for the first week of their lives.
Lucie McNeil, from National Geographic, said, "This would be an example of non-human teaching acoustical(声学的)communication." A leading scientist of the study, Karl Berg, told National Public Radio of the US, "Most people say, ‘Well, all those calls are just noise,' but I think they're communicating."
Fox News also asked Berg what else the parrots might be saying. He answered, "It is that these birds are deciding where the food is —‘Do we want to go 3 km North-Northwest ’‘Do we want to go to that field ’ They are arguing(争论)or discussing."
An author, Virginia Morell, wrote: "Slowly, scientists get to know the communications of very different animals."
You never know, if the science of animals' sounds keeps going, we may one day watch a real TV programme about parrots.
( )53.The underlined word "meaningless" in the first paragraph refers to " ".
A. meaningful B. useful
C. unimportant D. helpful
( )54.What does the study suggest
A. Different parrots are called differently by their parents.
B. Baby parrots can tell who their biological parents are.
C. Baby parrots can't mimic their biological parents.
D. Parrots are the cleverest animals in communication.
( )55.Why did the scientists exchange the eggs in the study
A. To see whether the parents could recognize their own babies.
B. To see whether the parrots made the same sounds all their lives.
C. To see whether the calls were got socially or genetically.
D. To see whether biological and nonbiological parents named babies differently of the passage.
( )56.Which one is the correct order of the passage
①Scientists exchanged the eggs in the nests.
②Nestlings can recognize and mimic their parents' calls.
③Nestlings are given a sound of their own.
④People proved the parrots can use sounds to communicate with each other.

Nature's warnings
When the sky suddenly turns dark and the wind is strong, beware! A dangerous storm might be coming. Storms are frightening. Watch for flashes of lightning. Listen for thunder. If nature sends these warnings, don't wait for rain. Act right away to keep safe.
Steps to keep safe
At the first flash of lightning, quickly get inside a building or a car. Do not go into a shed or baseball dugout. They are not closed like a building, so they are not safe.
Even after you are indoors, be careful. It is not smart to go near doors or windows. They can blow off or break. A room with no windows is the safest place to be in.
Do not wash your hands during a storm. Do not use anything that runs on electricity either. Water and electrical lines are like roads for lightning. Even if you really want to play computer games, don't do that! It is better to be bored than to risk getting hurt. Try reading a book instead. Reading is more fun than playing computer games.
If you can't get somewhere safe, stay out in the open. You may feel safe under a tree, but that is not a good place to be in. Lightning is pulled toward tall poles(杆) and trees. Stay down low in an open space and cover your ears to protect them. Loud thunder can damage your hearing.
Title: How to be safe in a storm
Nature's warnings ★When the sky suddenly turns 57 and the wind is strong, a dangerous storm might be coming. ★If nature sends these warnings like thunder and flashes of lightning, act right away to keep safe instead of 58 for rain.

We all know that health is really important to all of us. First of all, we should have a healthy diet. For example, we can eat more fruit and vegetables. We shouldn't eat too much sweet food at a time. Secondly, enough sleep is important to our body to have a rest. What's more, travelling can make our body healthier.
In addition, we also should do something to keep our mind healthy. Reading is a good way to open up a whole new world to us. If something worries us, it may help us to find a way out. And we can share happiness and sadness with our friends. Moreover, we should learn DIY. When we are sad, we can do DIY to relax.
I hope all of us will be healthy both in body and mind. Thank you.
