Witness the sweeping cinematic scenery of the Harry Potter movie series by booking a seat on the Jacobite Steam Train. Stop for lunch in Mallaig and then make the return journey to Fort William. Please be sure to book the steam train in advance, as it is exceedingly popular. By the way, it runs seasonally.

Bob was born in Cambridge. When he was in elementary school, he asked his mother to take him to parks in their community so he could collect empty soda cans to recycle. His mother agreed, as long as he saved part of the money he earned for college.
Bob’s mother remembers Bob as the most determined of her seven kids. Bob’s hard work paid off. On Friday, he will become the first person in his family, originally from El Salvador, to graduate from college. And he’s graduating with university honors.
For his honors thesis (毕业论文) he researched unmanned solar-powered (太阳能) airplanes, which BYU students have been building and testing for about 10 years. Bob’s study helps discover the best way to fly a solar-powered airplane so that it uses the least amount of power. The goal is to design and build an airplane that flies well. Bob’s thesis helps lay the basis for this work.
“My parents were always hard-working, ” Bob said. “They often tell us hard work leads to success.” Bob’s father taught him to read at the age of 3, and his mother is now a student at Utah Valley University in a way to becoming a dentist.
Bob recognized he overcame some obstacles (障碍) to get where he is. For starters, English is his second language. He also faced stereotypes (模式化的形象). Although Bob never doubted that he would be a college graduate, other people believed he wouldn’t because he didn’t come from a family of high income. There were other obstacles as well, but Bob viewed them all as opportunities.
Bob’s mother says she feels very happy and proud that her son is about to graduate with honors, and remembers the effort he’s made to get there. “He has worked very hard. Rainforests provide much of the world’s oxygen. People have been trying to protect them for years. But another type of forest, the cloud forest, is just as important to humans.
These forests are at the top of mountains, generally near the equator (赤道). These wet, wooded mountaintops are mainly in Africa and Central and South America. They are called “cloud forests” because their height allows of the formation of clouds among the trees. The trees in these forests pull water from the clouds. The water gathers on the leaves and falls into small rivers below, which flow into towns at the bottom of the mountain. The yearly rainfall in these areas is about 180 centimetres. Cloud forests can pull in up to 60 percent of that. The water is important to the plants and the people in the area. It helps them survive.
Cloud forests are also home to countless species of plants that can’t be found anywhere else. One small cloud forest has as many types of plants as there are in all of Europe. In fact , there are so many species that scientists haven’t made a complete list of them yet.
These forests are being destroyed at an increasing speed. Trees are being cut down, and roads are being built in their place. Some people have a goal to get government money to protect the forests. But they have had little success so far. Another way is to take the place of the destroyed plants with new ones. That, too, has been difficult because the plants are so special. There’s plenty of work to be done, but saving the cloud forests is still possible with creative solutions.
28. Where can we probably find cloud forests
A. In North America. B. In a place far from the equator.
C. In some African countries. D. At the foot of mountains.
29. How much rainfall is pulled in by the cloud forests in those areas every year
A. About 60 cm. B. About 108 cm.
C. About 180 cm. D. About 300 cm.
30. What is the main idea of Paragraph 3
A. Europe owns plentiful plant species. B. Scientists are working on a list.
C. Cloud forests are getting smaller. D. Cloud forests house many plants.
31. Where can we probably find the text
A. In a storybook. B. In a travel guidebook.
C. In a chemistry textbook. D. In a geography magazine.

On average, Americans spend about 10 hours a day in front of a computer or other electronic devices and less than 30 minutes a day outdoors. That is a claim by David Strayer , a professor of psychology at the University of Utah. In his 2017 TED Talk, Strayer explained that all this time spent on technology is making our brains tired.
Using an electronic device to answer e-mails, listen to the news and browse the web puts a lot of pressure on the front of the brain, which, Strayer explains, is important for critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making.
Therefore, it is important to give the brain a rest. And being in nature, Strayer claims, helps a tired brain away from too much technology. More than 15,000 campers from around the world attend an international camping festival in September. That is when friends and family take time off and escape to nature for several days. They take walks, climb, explore, swim, sleep, eat and play. Camping may be just what a tired brain needs.
Take Carl for example. He lives in West Virginia and enjoys camping. He says that staying outdoors makes him feel at ease. It also prepares him for the work he must do. Kate Somers is another example who also lives in West Virginia. She says she enjoys camping with her husband and two children. She calls it a “regenerative” experience.
At the University of Utah, David Strayer has studied both short-term and long-term exposure to nature. He found that spending short amounts of time in nature without technology does calm the brain and help it to remember better. However, he found, it is the long-term contact with nature that does the most good. He and his research team found that speeding three days without any technology is enough for the brain to fully relax and reset itself.
32. What can we learn from David Strayer
A. Americans dislike outdoor activities.
B. Electronic equipment should be quitted.
C. New technology also has some disadvantages.
D. Electronic equipment brings great convenience.
33. Why does Strayer insist people go outdoors
A. To try another lifestyle. B. To let our brain relax.
C. To make better decisions. D. To play with our family and friends.
34. What does the underlined word “regenerative” mean
A. Refreshing. B. Memorable. C. Remarkable. D. Tiring.
35. Which is the proper title for the passage
A. Electronic Equipment Harms the Brain B. Good Rest Develops Good Memory
C. Tips on Using New Technology D. Being in Nature Is Good for the Brain
